Customization was the key for one family’s decision to choose a home at Indian Peaks

Forest and Michele Hill had been looking for a home for a year, to accommodate their growing family and space for Forest’s home-based office.  With the recent addition of their baby girl, it was important to be close to family and Boulder, and live in a good school district. While they looked at numerous builders and communities, they felt that the obvious choice was McStain Neighborhoods in Indian Peaks.  “Other builders couldn’t compare to McStain with their Energy Star program or the flexibility they allow for custom changes in their homes”, states Forest. “We were able to make several changes to the house and tailor it for the way we really live”.

McStain started with a customized architectural plan.  This allowed us to design our interior floor plan and exterior façade with a large expanded garage to really meet the needs of our lifestyle.   On the interior, we have included two tank less hot water heaters, solar photovoltaic and thermal plumbing systems, high-efficient exterior windows, upgraded cabinet design, optional flooring and granite countertops, as well as custom and low-voltage lighting. “The vendors that we worked with were responsive and professional – overall, we have been pleased with the process.” cites Michele.

“We also enjoyed working with the sales and construction teams at McStain, including their senior management. We were impressed that the president of McStain showed an interest in the details of our home and was accessible whenever we needed him.” adds Forest. “We are thrilled that we selected McStain Neighborhoods and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a house”.  The Hill family is expected to close on their home on September 23rd, 2011.

Building the home of their dreams

Jeff and his wife Vanessa have lived in Lafayette for years, but as their two daughters began to get older, they felt it was time to move into a bigger house to accommodate their growing family. They enjoyed living in Lafayette, with a great school district and convenience to shopping and outdoors activities, so they had their mind set on staying in the area. They looked at both new and resale homes, but when they found out that McStain was building in Indian Peaks, they knew this was the home for them.

“We were really impressed with McStain Neighborhoods – they have a tremendous reputation for quality building and a strong customer focus. They were also very flexible when it came to personalizing our home”, states Jeff.  Being able to make a house their own was important to Jeff and Vanessa; a key factor in the decision to build a McStain home. A few of their design options included: a custom oak staircase, interior woodwork and bookshelves, and a custom basement layout, with a large recreation room, 10 foot ceilings and sound-proof room for playing instruments. “They allowed us to make a number of changes – it was like we were building a custom home”, Vanessa adds.

“Overall we really enjoyed the building process; the people at McStain were tremendous and would go out of their way to assist us. Everyone was kind and helpful – even the subcontractors that worked for them. We’ve lived in our house since April, and we’re very happy that we selected McStain Neighborhoods at Indian Peaks to call our home”, remarks Jeff.

McStain Neighborhoods partners with Kentwood City Properties to market Curtis Park

With the recent announcement of our Curtis Park project, we sought out a team of professionals who were knowledgeable about downtown Denver real estate, but also had a similar philosophy on urban renewal and sustainability.  The natural choice was to engage Kentwood City Properties, with team members Stacy Neir, John Hayden and Keith Pryor to represent McStain Neighborhoods at Curtis Park. Each member brings unique skills and expertise to the table. Stacy is the savvy marketing and new construction real estate sales professional; John is one of the Curtis Park experts – that can tell you everything about the neighborhood and even lives there himself; and Keith, the other Curtis Park expert and resident, has an extensive back-ground in construction and renovation.  All in all, this team has over 35 years of combined real estate experience and is the perfect fit to complement McStain Neighborhoods at Curtis Park.

“We are very excited to be part of the Curtis Park team”, states Hayden, “this is the only new, single-family housing project in our historic neighborhood; the community fully encourages the new construction and feels as though it will have a positive impact on the neighborhood”.  Along with the overwhelming support of the community; the proximity to downtown is also an added benefit in marketing this project. “These homes are in an ideal location, across the street from the park and only blocks from RTD/Light Rail, galleries, and other attractions – which makes this area one the best places to live in Denver…it’s the new LOHI”, adds Neir.

McStain has built in urban in-fill areas before, but the circumstance around this community was slightly different. “A new zoning code has allowed builders like McStain to develop new housing in Landmark Districts, which is the first of its kind”, cites Pryor. “We are thrilled that a reputable builder like McStain Neighborhoods is on this project and hope these new community projects in historic districts become a trend setting concept for Denver in the future”.
