McStain Neighborhoods - We're on a mission here.

We believe that people build a better world by being involved, giving back and being part of a community. Community is a place where people feel more of a connection to each other and to the natural environment. Not just places where people live, but where their lives become richer. In recognition of our 40th year anniversary, we are spotlighting employees who volunteer their time by giving back to the community.

Meet John Parks

John Parks, our land development construction manager, recently received McStain’s Volunteer of the Year award for his work as an advocate at the Boulder County Sheriff’s department. Over the past 18 years, John has dedicated much of his free time to helping families in Boulder County deal with emotional trauma and the loss of loved ones

John’s journey began after he read a newspaper article about a girl who lost her life after falling off a deck at her home. In the article, the Boulder Country Sheriff’s office was looking for people to train as advocates. John volunteered and after 18 years, he understands better than most how to support others in life altering situations. “The families are so appreciative and open to my help in their time of need,” says John. “I am glad I can do something for them when their world has been turned upside down.”

John has been with McStain for nearly five years. During his “other” free time, he enjoys spending time with his daughter and two sons and helping out at his community church.
