The built environment and the natural environment are connected in many ways, and it’s our job to understand those connections. That’s why we’ve established the High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC), a nonprofit, living laboratory dedicated to exploring and teaching the concepts and practices of environmental stewardship. Located within the award-winning High Plains Village neighborhood of Loveland, it is responsible for protecting 275 acres of wetlands, uplands and reservoirs as it forwards our knowledge of how to create communities in harmony with the natural environment. The HPEC also serves as a neighborhood amenity, conducting a variety of hands-on programs for children and adults, with topics ranging from bird identification to fine art painting to alternative vehicle technology.
