McStain Neighborhoods - We're on a mission here.

Much of what makes older neighborhoods so interesting, and of lasting value, is the diversity of homes … and inhabitants. There are younger people, older people, singles, couples, new families, extended families, single-parent families, you name it. This is an important lesson in neighborhood planning. Diversity is healthier, and it's just more interesting. So let's mix things up a bit. Let's put in some single-family homes, some townhomes and maybe some condominiums, too. Let's put in a couple of neighborhood parks and maybe a small shopping district where all these people can get acquainted and become good neighbors. Before you know it, a teenager is babysitting the little kids across the street. A retired couple is helping keep an eye on things while their neighbors are at work. And all kinds of people are converging for a weekend block party. Diversity makes for a stronger community. And a stronger community adds value to each individual home.
